Our Story, Mission and Community

Learn about Marsh Knitting’s journey, from our humble beginnings to our mission of fostering a vibrant and supportive knitting community. Meet our founders and discover the passion that knits us together.

Our Story

Marsh Knitting sprang to life from the shared vision of a small group of friends who discovered a profound sense of community and joy in the rhythmic dance of needles and yarn. What began as casual gatherings, filled with laughter, creativity, and the occasional unraveling of a tricky pattern, quickly blossomed into a haven for knitting enthusiasts.

The founders, united by their passion for knitting and a dream to weave together a tapestry of like-minded individuals, laid the foundation for what Marsh Knitting has become today: a vibrant community where the threads of creativity, companionship, and support are interlaced to create a warm, welcoming space for knitters of all skill levels.

As the club grew, so did its impact, reaching beyond the confines of its local beginnings to touch the lives of many in the surrounding community. Through workshops, meetups, and special events, the club has not only fostered the development of countless knitting projects but has also knitted together a diverse group of individuals into a tight-knit family.

Our Mission

Marsh Knitting is dedicated to creating a vibrant, supportive community for knitters. Our mission is to promote the craft of knitting as a therapeutic, creative, and social activity. We aim to share skills, inspire creativity, and spread the joy of knitting to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Meet the Founders

Jane Dawson

Jane Dawson, co-founder of Marsh Knitting, is the heart and soul behind the club’s warm, inviting atmosphere. With over two decades of knitting experience, Jane’s journey with the craft began in her grandmother’s living room, where she was first introduced to the magic of yarn and needles. Her passion for knitting is matched only by her dedication to community service, a trait that has been instrumental in shaping the club’s direction.

Michael Gales

Michael Gales, alongside Jane, played a pivotal role in founding Marsh Knitting, bringing with him a unique blend of creativity and organizational skills. A relative newcomer to knitting when the club was formed, Michael quickly fell in love with the craft’s meditative qualities and the sheer joy of creating something tangible. With a background in event planning and a knack for logistics, Michael has been key in organizing the club’s events, workshops, and meetups, ensuring they run smoothly and cater to the interests of the community.
